Awareness Workshop on Multidimensional Poverty and Its Impact on Women and Girls
The Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Administration and Economics, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the University Presidency, organized an awareness workshop on "Multidimensional Poverty and Its Impact on Women and Girls," presented by Assistant Lecturer Ghufran Muhammad Hassan.
The workshop introduced the concept of multidimensional poverty—covering health, housing, employment, security, personal freedom, and education—and distinguished it from economic poverty, which refers to consumption-based poverty or national poverty lines.
The discussion included effective means to address multidimensional poverty among women and girls in Iraqi society, such as aligning government strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals to empower women and enhance their contribution to the economic, health, social, and educational advancement of the country.
The Ministry of Higher Education’s Women’s Affairs Department has emphasized the importance of such events in raising community awareness and supporting the role of women in society.
